"I have been the head author for the BBA from the moment of its creation. For me, BBA is a source of power and creativity, where the most compelling film scripts, plays, and TV projects are born. I wrote comedies and dramas, shot TV series and blockbusters, and taught scriptwriting and producing. And every time, a bright, unique, and, most importantly, free art was born. Now in the US, I am starting to do it again to prove that art has no boundaries. The history of Kureichik's Resilience and Dignity
Andrei Kureichik is one of the most acclaimed screenwriters to emerge from Eastern Europe. For years, he topped the charts as the highest-grossing and most in-demand screenwriter in Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus, with films that collectively earned over $200 million at the box office. But in 2020, at the height of his career, his outspoken support for democracy made him a target of the Lukashenko regime. Forced into exile, Kureichik joined the wave of visionary artists escaping political repression.
His response was nothing short of revolutionary: Insulted. Belarus and Voices of New Belarus became global phenomena—the largest protest theater movement in Europe and the U.S., staged by over 140 theaters in 39 countries. These works fused raw political urgency with world-class dramaturgy, capturing the world’s attention and proving that art can confront power and inspire change.
Exile didn’t silence Kureichik—it launched him onto the world stage. In 2022, he was named a Yale World Fellow, joining a distinguished list of global changemakers, including Alexei Navalny.
